Welcome to Troop 1070 !
Troop 1070 Boys has been part of the Walkersville community for more than 60 years whereas Troop 1070 Girls was chartered as a new Scouts BSA unit. Both units was originally charted by Glade Valley Lions club as our the chartering organization in 1964 for the boys and 2019 for the girls. In 2025 our troop was changed to a family troop which combined both the girls and boys's troop into one troop. We are currently Chartered by Saint Paul Lutheran Church. We are governed by a unified committee of parents and volunteer Scouters.
We strive to help our area youth expand friendships, explore the outdoors, learn skills that will last a lifetime, demonstrate leadership, and provide service to our community .
We have several patrols (teams) and our "Scout Led Troop" plans activities that are fun and educational every week and going camping at least one a month. We attend several summer camps annually and frequently plan opportunities for our senior Scouts to attend High Adventure camps .
Troop 1070 meets every Wednesday at the Walkersville Community Park from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the spring and early fall, the rest of the year our troop meet at the Mt Pleasant Ruritan Club from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Boys and Girls ages 11-17 are invited to attend our meetings to find out more about our programs.
